But what you here right now is your host, Jordan B.D.J. Taylor, and you are listening to episode 12 of the Big Dream Show. Um, special shout out to my brother Jack, Jack Skolnik, coming through for episode 11. We did a little reunion of our previous podcast, a podcast about nothing, where we used to just talk shit for an hour, hour and a half. So go ahead and spend that if you got some time to kill, you got nothing to do. Also want to give a shout out to Kay and my family over at Eighth House. My interview with them dropped. That's available on YouTube. Like uh, I think it's like 45 minutes to an hour, but it's cool. It's me speaking from a different perspective. Usually uh I'm the one doing the interviewing or I'm just talking on a podcast, so to have someone that knows me, someone that I trust to really talk and have in-depth conversation about my influences, my life, my journey. The shit that got me in was you know, it was a lot of fun. Um last but not least, if you're hearing this before Saturday the 20th, on Saturday the 20th, we out DC. We're partying with the heavy boys for deep cuts. It's gonna be a party from I want to say 10 to 3 at Public House in DC. Shout out to Dre, shout out to Cuffy, shout out to the DJs, the good brothers out there. It's always a good time. So, yeah, we outside this summer. I don't really know what else to tell you. So, without further ado, though, we do have a special guest this week. She's looking, her eyes got real big, like she wasn't expecting to be on the episode so soon, but we got a special guest this week. We got the homie Cash in the building.

SPEAKER_01

Hey.

SPEAKER_00

Founder, creative director, entrepreneur of Girls from Venus. I guess the the brain behind Girls from Venus.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

A popular, popular women's brand, been doing your thing for a while. You feel like a veteran yet, or do you feel like you're still learning a lot of shit?

SPEAKER_03

No, I definitely don't feel like a vet. I still feel like a lot of my first items is my first of its kind. So yeah, no. Not a vet, not yet. Still a lot to learn.

SPEAKER_00

Give it up for the young OG, ladies and gentlemen. That's where we would have a soundboard and some shit where we're gonna be able to do it. Young OG is crazy. Applause.

SPEAKER_03

Young OG is crazy. I don't feel like I'm an OG.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Give it up for the youngin'.

SPEAKER_03

Give it up for the young nigga, yo. Now he just called me a YN, like that's insane. Okay. Give it up for the Y-N.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, so if y'all are new here, then I'm about to go through the ground rules. If you're not new here, then you understand this is the bane of my existence. This is the shit I hate. I always say I'm gonna record it, and then I end up not recording it. I got an excuse this week. Last weekend I was out in New York with some family, so I lost a lot of time, had a lot of fun. And then as soon as I came back, we was at Monday Night Raw. Shout out to Shout out to the Casa, man, you know. Me and my guys, you know, if it's a wrestling event right now, you probably gonna see us. I don't I don't know why the phone is beeping, but we probably talking too much shit already. But alright, ground rules. If you're new here, stick around. If you've been here before, skip unless you would just like to hear me be miserable. Let's get into it. So, number one, these thoughts are strictly my own and do not reflect the views of any family, friends, partners, affiliates, or associates. Number two, we use vulgar language. I say fuck, I say shit, I say ass, I say damn. I might I might might pull a bastard out every once in a while, you know. Yeah, that face.

unknown

What is happening?

SPEAKER_00

I might I might pull a bastard out, so you you never know. Number three, follow me. Literally, not in terms of like Instagram, Facebook, but my mind tends to go all over the place. So if you're not listening intently, it may be easy to get lost in the sauce and not know what the fuck I'm talking about. So follow me, listen, do your best not to be distracted for whatever long the episode goes. Just you know, give us your undivided attention, your respect, all that good shit. Number four, on the same token, tell me if I'm tripping. I'm a human just like you, so if I say some shit that's out of line, that's out of pocket, that's it's wrong, incorrect. I'm not a hard guy to get in contact with, so real, really let me know. I appreciate it for sure. Number five, help this thing grow. So like it, rate it, subscribe it, review, post it on social media, tell a friend, tell a friend to tell a friend, leave a voicemail, whatever the fuck. But and you like what's going on here, you like what we're getting into, then please do what you can to help support it. And then don't go unseen or unsaid. Really grateful for every like, every repost, every reshare. A lot of times I don't even see the notifications of y'all like sharing the shit, so I'll just be scrolling on Instagram and see my picture and be like, oh shit. So it really is appreciated. Last but not least, do your research. Well, I'm not I'm not ignorant by any means. I'm not always the most informed. I don't always have the most nuanced takes on things. If that's something I say that piques your interest, something I say that's like, huh. I want to learn more about that, or I agree with that a lot. All I ask is that you do your research, look into different sources, different people, different folks. Don't let no shit that I say or any of my guests say, so cash today. Don't let nothing we say be the be-all, end-all of your knowledge of some shit, you know?

SPEAKER_03

Actually, when I speak, it's a dictatorship, so this is the end-all be all. Okay, well, I'm just gonna do it.

SPEAKER_00

Refer to rule number one. We do not support dictatorships in this uh in this democracy here. But yeah, let's get into it. We got a bunch of a bunch of random shit to talk about, a bunch of random topics. Let's get into your story first. I think that the people will be interested in learning more about girls from Venus, learning more about Cash. Let's back when I did the show with Score, we always ask people, what's your origin story? Like, how did you get into being you?

SPEAKER_03

Cash knew exactly who she was from a very early age. It's like no, I'm kidding. But um, no, that's actually really true though. Like, I think that my entire life I've been surrounded around creativity in different ways. Like, my dad was really into clothes and being well dressed. Actually, it's really funny. My dad's birthday just passed, and my brother has been looking into our ancestry. And so he found an article for my dad used to rob banks.

SPEAKER_00

You said rob banks?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, my dad used to rob banks. That's right. And it's really, it's actually like kind of cool, but it's also just like what? Because my I'm the youngest of five boys. Okay. So me and my brothers have anywhere between three to ten years in between us. So the dad that some of them guys are the dad that I got, right? Because by the time by the time it came down to me, it was over. All the all the silly stuff was over. So my dad was like 23. But he was called, they called them the like the well-dressed bandits because he was always really, really well dressed, but he would rob a bank. And I was like, that's so cool. So yeah, I think fashion is kind of in me. Same thing with my grandmother. Like, um, I like jewelry because of my grandmother, I like nails and different things. My grandmother was really into like her image. And so I think that that instilled different things in me as far as like how I like how like liking what you like, basically, like and being so rooted in what you like. So I think from an early age, I've always liked what I liked. I've always liked Pharrell, I've always liked Kanye, I've always been really big on 2000s and those kind of things that I think make my around the way girl aesthetic that I have now. So I started GFV in 2018, but I've been designing for GFV since I was like 14 years old because I always wanted to make clothes. But you know, when you go to high school and you start to get into trying to get into colleges, they're like, Yeah, nobody goes to school for art, nobody goes to school for fashion. So I kind of put the dream to the side until it like came back. I feel like your callins follow you. So I feel like it was always meant for me to do something with GFV. So I was just like, let me just go out and make some clothes. So I did, and it worked out. And that was in 2018. I had two fashion shows. We had Cash and Show one.

SPEAKER_00

I think that I think I was at that one. I was at one.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you did come to one. I do remember that. Okay, so that was Cash and Show. That was the very first one, and so that one showed me like there is people in Baltimore that like art fashion things, but I don't know where fashion still exists and all of that. Cause I still think it's it's still the very small community. And then I had Cash and Show too, where I debuted at GFE, so that was cool. Excuse me. But yeah, so it's been it's been a journey. I think the biggest thing with GFE is that it's meeting goals I didn't set. So it's it's interesting to be in that kind of space. Like when I sold my clothes at FRS and I had such a really I had their biggest pop-up they've ever had.

SPEAKER_00

I was about to say, talk your shit.

SPEAKER_03

Like, no, I'm I'm I refrain from talking shit because it's just not like who I'm.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, this is the platform to talk shit. If you wanted to be on the record at least one time, you know, I'm I don't pop my shit, but one time I did pop my shit. This is the place to pop.

SPEAKER_03

The only time I pop my shit, I sound like Shook Knight. So I don't do it that often. It gets it gets that bad. That's why I'm like, I don't know it all. Once I start, it don't it get real bad over here. It gets bad. So it's just like, yeah, but so I had their like is a crazy comparison.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sorry, I'm stuck on that one. All up in the video. You don't want niggas all up in the coming to GFV, have to talk about it.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm not even telling nobody to come over here, just don't go with them. But anyways, so yeah, like I had their most successful, successful launch and pop-up they've ever had in that store in like the years it was open. And so that was crazy. And then that was within like six months of me starting a brand, too. So that was crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Did that did that affect your expectations in any way? Coming out the gate and seeing immediate success so early that it kind of altered. Cause I know back when we did like different projects, like the demo tape and the working title, when we were getting like big names and shit early.

SPEAKER_03

It sounds so long ago, but like I remember that, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But it was like we was getting high-profile interviews from the jump. So it was like, oh, yeah. You feel me? I'm gonna get the whatever vision board shit I had way sooner than I thought, but then it wasn't that. It kind of was a trap to be like, you can attain it, but it ain't always gonna be like banging the way it is at the peak is different, peaks and valleys. So did that affect your perception being young, being having a fucking sold-out pop-up, one of the most successful pop-ups in the history of a sneaker boutique. That had a name at the time too. Like it wasn't no. Yeah, it wasn't a small fries.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, no, it was, it didn't affect, if anything, it affected me more than it affected the expectations I had for the brand, because I didn't have any for the brand. Like everything that I do, I don't really have expectations for because I'm doing something that fulfills something in myself.

SPEAKER_02

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

So I don't, I don't think I even look for a lot of outside validation. I think now I do more with GFB because like I think the way that girl shop is so interesting right now. Because everything is ugly, but everybody's wearing it.

SPEAKER_00

What you mean? Yeah, expand on that for me. Because you you said something right now.

SPEAKER_03

Everything is ugly, but everybody is wearing ugly clothes.

SPEAKER_00

What's an example of an ugly piece of clothes?

SPEAKER_03

I cannot say because I am not getting cancelled. I just don't know. Let me let me say this. I think that a lot of brands, small brands, are dupes of other brands. They're just copying off of each other, and everybody that's why everybody looks the same low-key right now, because everybody is doing the same kind of clothing. And I don't think that GIV is doing anything spectacular, but I can tell you that I don't think I'm looking at nobody else while I'm making it. So that's okay, that's how I feel about just that in particular. But the way girls shop, because women, I feel like used to shop based on their personalities and based on their OGs. Like when I think of an OG for me and like the clothing space and stuff like that, I'm thinking about Amber Rose. That's like one of my OGs and like clothes, and it's like a two, excuse me, a 2000s, like Tumblr girl OG, but like I'm a Tumblr girl. So like I'm thinking about Heather Sanders, I'm thinking about Bernice Bergos, like I'm thinking about how they looked in their 20s and how like they used to shut New York down, like they shutting down Tau. Like, I'm thinking about stuff like that when I'm designing, when I'm getting dressed, and stuff like that. And so I don't know who nobody's looking up to nowadays as far as fashion. I don't I don't know who the girls are looking at other than each other. And I think that's why everything looks the same because we're looking around, like we don't, we're not looking up. And I mean, I think looking up for inspiration is good. I think looking to the side is good too, but like I think that's that causes some friction and like creativity. So like when I design clothes, I don't buy clothes because I'm like, I'm not trying to be influenced by something I'm seeing or something I'm like looking at, or stuff like that. I try to just create based on like what I actually like and what I want to see myself in and what I want to see others in when it comes to my brand.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's fly. That's some flash, that's some fly shit.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

What are some things you do when you feel like you're trying to find or seek creativity?

SPEAKER_03

I do art day. So I take off at work or I pick a weekend and I go to another state, or I just go to an exhibit that I've been wanting to go to, or I do something creative because sometimes you just need to leave.

SPEAKER_00

You need to like your brain off. Huh? You say monthly?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I do art day monthly. So it's June. I haven't done an art day for June yet.

SPEAKER_00

How did you come up with that idea? Was that like fully your own? Of I need to figure out a way to structure in creativity, or was it some shit somebody was like, nah, y'all niggas should do? Because I I see shit like that with threads and Instagram, like, oh, do this day for yourself. Take yourself on a date, take yourself out of town or something. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_03

Like, yeah. No, I realize that I like to do things. Like, I like to be, I I I love outside. So sorry. I love outside. I'm not, I'm not no, I'm not no girl who wants to sit in the house wait for no man. I wanna go outside. They be like, oh, your husband not in the club. Well, so I am. Like, I don't, okay, and like everything ain't about a man, and everything about standing in the house looking like a a good person or a good girl or being disciplined. Sometimes you gotta let the let the dog loose. So I like to be out. Like, so my favorite art day I've done this year so far is when I took a day trip to Atlanta. I just flew down there, flew back Atlanta an hour on a flight. Like the flight was $50. I flew Frontier. It's like a Frontier really is the um the van with wings. I how they say spirit was it's really frontier. It's really frontier.

SPEAKER_00

The grayhound.

SPEAKER_03

For sure it's the grayhound in the sky. But I ended up I wanted to go see the Andre Leon Tally exhibit that was in SCAD, the art school in Atlanta. So I went to that and I thought I got down to the High Museum in time to see another exhibit, but it wasn't there, it was closed. But because I'm me, I found a back room where they had all the dresses at, so I was looking at them. I probably I belong in jail for a lot of that. I try like one thing I do all the time, I trespass all the time. Like, I just don't care about it. I mean, I just feel like if the door open, why can't I walk through it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You know, so last words. Yeah, I mean, that's how I met Dapper Dan. I just walked in some room he was in, not a closed door behind me. I said, Well, I'm not gonna let the rest of y'all in here, but hey, how you doing? So that was cool too.

SPEAKER_00

But tell that story. He was about to try to breeze past it.

SPEAKER_03

I I don't this story is just funny because it's also how I got like one of my favorite relationships I have in my life with like D Watkins. So he was teaching me at UB. Shout out to D. Watkins. And yeah, shout out to D, shout out to D. It's my guy. So he was teaching me at UB and I had to miss his class one day. He's like, Oh, where are you going? And I ended up reaching out to this conference they had in New York called like Fashionistacon. I think it was, I think it was I'm trying to think of the name of the brand because I don't think they do it anymore, but it's a Conday Nass brand. So they were doing this Fashionistacon thing, and Debra Dan was one of the keynote speakers, and I really wanted to go. So one thing about me, I'm gonna reach out and ask for a student discount everywhere. I got my hand like the growth sisters all the time. So I had asked them, like, do y'all have any student discounts for their tickets? Because I mean I was a college student then, so they was high as hell, like not really, but like for me. So I was just like, you know, like if not, I was gonna ask my mother for money, whatever. But so yeah, and they were just like, no, but if you come, you can just volunteer and then you know, we can make sure we got you set up so you can have a ticket. I said, Okay, cool. And then I like found, we found me like train and bus tickets and all that stuff. And then I emailed her again and was like, hey, because of like me traveling from Baltimore, I won't get there to like the the very like I won't get there in the beginning, I'll get there like a little after the first session. She was like, Oh, cool. When you come in, just join the join the event. Like, you don't even have to work because we figured it all out before you. We just want you to have a good time. Oh, that's funny. I said, Oh, bad. So I pulled up, it was great. The sessions were good. You gotta do a one-on-one with like people talking about like what you wanted to do. At that time, I didn't have GFV. I wanted to be a blogger. So we talked about me starting a yeah, I had a blog for a while. That's how I started the uh so the first fashion show, everybody that was in it was people that I've interviewed for my blog. So I had a blog called Style by the Influence on Tumblr for a while.

SPEAKER_00

I do guys you remember that. I remember that name. Yeah, because that was the name with the fashion show.

SPEAKER_03

That was the name of the fashion show, right? So I had a blog doing that for a while, and then that's when the fashion show came up. So at that point, I was on the fashion blog and whatever, which I'm still probably always gonna do. But so I go to the event, it's really cool. I did the one-on-one, I met Prabal Gruang, who's one of my favorite designers. He's really cool, his work is really good. And then I knew Dapper Dam was the keynote speaker, but he was in a room to the side of like where everybody was, but the door was open. So I just walked into the room because there's people in there. It wasn't like he was just in there by himself, it was people in there. So I just walked in and I kind of just cracked the door behind me so people couldn't see that. I just walked into that room. They probably like, oh, where the hell she just got? Like, you know, it's not really none of y'all's business because I really ain't supposed to be in here either. Can't make it hot, you feel me? So me and him were talking about how Baltimore used to have a fashion street. And I was like, he was like, I used to come to Monument Street and Mond Domingue get my clothes tailored because back when he was, I guess, our age, this was like a place that was really big on like structuring and tailoring and suits. And I was just like, you would have never known that. I would have never known that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, it was a great conversation.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Yeah. And now I'm just thinking about all the old heads that was dressed to the nines, and it's like, oh, I thought y'all was just on some church shit. It's like, oh, you you know you actually are upholding the culture.

SPEAKER_03

That was every day. Like, even my grandmother used to always like get up and get dressed, even when I was going to wear it, she dressed in the living room. Like, why are you dressed on this plastic couch? But that was her vibe. Like, that was the older vibe. Like, people were getting dressed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Like, it was a meme back in the day. It was like your grandpa used to take off his work suit and then come home, change to his house suit and shit.

SPEAKER_03

Basically, like that's hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

There's so many different ways that my brain can go from this conversation. I'm still stuck on your dad being a bank robber and your name being cash. That's beautiful irony right there.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's so cute. Um I didn't even put that together.

SPEAKER_00

We got that for Dan. We got we got all the influences, we got you talking about just general 2000 influence. That's a whole bunch of things. That's why I'm I was excited for you to come onto the podcast. Because you really are a wealth of knowledge and information. Let's go with this. Thank you. Let's go with this. This angle here. You said you'd be outside, so on and so forth. But how much time? Because you really actually are a student of fashion, you're a student of the game when it comes to like you just rattling off names with fucking five syllables and shit from European countries niggas never heard of, studying Chanel, LV, all these different houses throughout history. But how much time do you actually spend just studying and learning and reading, like those quiet, those quiet kind of hours that that come with being a creative and building big shit? How much time do you spend in that place?

SPEAKER_03

You know, they say like 10k hours is like I've been trying to track it. I don't know. I don't know. I've been trying to track it so bad for the last two years. I do not know. But a good amount of time, I think, like daily, I want to say maybe like an hour or two. Like I have like a hundred tabs open on my phone, but 50 of them are just articles. I swear, like 50 of them are articles. The other 50, the other 50 is like reviews for food spots, and the other, like, you know, the rest of them is like clothes I want to buy that I don't need. But yeah, so I spend a lot of time, I think, just reading and writing, but it's because I genuinely like to read and write. So I'm subscribed to Business of Fashion, which is a fashion website where you can look up case studies and they do trend reports and stuff like that. So I read that. I read WSGN, it's also another place that does trend reports. I watch all those interviews that everybody does. Like I watch the interviews with Joe from Joe Fresh Goods, Clint that does Cortez, Cortez. I don't know how to say that.

SPEAKER_00

I thought it was Cortez.

SPEAKER_03

Cortez, it might be Cortez. But you know, he's from London, they'd be like Cortez, he'd be like Cortez, or he'd be like Cortez. And I'd be like, okay. But no, I'm trying to think. I met him. How did he say it when I met him? I don't remember. I don't. I was that was a that day was a blur.

SPEAKER_00

He was two in a moment.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, it was a that was a cool day. That was a cool day. So yeah, I want to say maybe like out of the week, maybe like 10 hours.

SPEAKER_00

That's healthy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's healthy for sure. What's the coolest like pop-up or in-person experience you had with a designer, or it don't just gotta be that, because you know it's all kinds of pop-ups and festivals and conventions and shit like that. What are the what are some that stand out to you and what?

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh. Well, reasons why I think I like the boys. Like I hate to say this because like the other than like stripped, you know what I'm talking about, that does like the the women's wear in DC.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, not at all.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, well, it's a woman's brand name, stripped, and she has great in-person interaction interactions and things like that. Ari's doing a great job at stripped. But other than Ari to me, like the like the girls are that make clothes, it's not even that many of us stripped with a T.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. We got computers, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's looking it up.

SPEAKER_00

Stripped high quality essentials for everybody.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So I think that her socials are a really good job. And then she has a matcha brand that she puts in, but her clothing brand, like it all just is really good in like a nutshell. And so other than like her, I want to say, I don't know any women's brands that are like doing cool. Things, especially not locally. So the guy brands are always doing cool things, though. Like Mingo by Domingo. G is one of my favorite creatives because I feel like he does things you would never even think of. Like we went to his pop-up last week and he was like partnering with ice cream shop. Ice cream good as I don't know what. My God, today. The ice cream was so good. Because I really can't, I cannot express how good it was. So them and then like that's why I like Joe and uh Cortiz, because their pop-ups are cool, cool, they're interactive, they have themes and things like that. But I think overall, my favorite like in-person interactions when I was in London. Like the stores in London, Seffridges in particular, every brand has their own section of the store. So like Jack Moose had a whole store. Chrome had a whole store. Like it was so cool to just be like in different worlds. And I was in that store for like five hours. Everywhere I went in London, I was in there for like five hours. Like we were just in there. The very first day I got to London, our hotel wasn't open and none of the stores was open. It was like seven o'clock in the morning, but Harrods was open. And Harrods is like Macy's, but like they have a butchery in there. They have a baccarat bar, they have a Tiffany Cafe. So we're in there for five hours walking around, eating, drinking. They have like a whole like it was just everything in there.

SPEAKER_00

It's like a casino.

SPEAKER_03

Basically, but like for clothes. Like a casino with like clothes. It was like it was really cool. So I think that London showed me that marketing can be like simple and still larger than life. For sure. And still be really good. Because I think that sometimes you want to go big, like real big. Like my ultimate big thing is to have a Venus inflatable in front of one of my pop-ups. I want that real bad. Like, because basically, my logo was a planet. Like I kind of created because Venus don't have rings. And we kind of made that up and just ran with it. Like, so I'm like, I need an inflatable, but Venus gotta have rings. So I gotta make my own inflatable. Like, that's one of my like biggest things I want to do. So it's like that's larger than life, but like how can I still give a big inflatable vibe just by like in a 10 by 10 space?

SPEAKER_00

Nah, that's tough.

unknown

Dang.

SPEAKER_00

I ain't gonna lie, you cooking.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, thanks.

SPEAKER_00

You cooking. You cooking for sure. Niggas talking about London and and whatnot. God damn.

SPEAKER_03

Life is life is to be lived, man. For sure. And you one thing I will say that I think can round up everything I've talked about in the last what 10 minutes. You miss every shot you don't take.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

So like I got into the London study abroad because I asked could I come? Like, and they were just like, Well, you're not a business major. I said, but I have a business. And so I wrote an essay about GFV, and that's how I got into the program. Walking into the door with Depp and then meeting Clint was just that does like Cortiz. I probably would have met him anyways that day. He I feel like he meets everybody, but the Cortes truck blocked in my car.

SPEAKER_00

No, so yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So he walked over to my car and started talking to me because he he basically was pissing me off. So and I just was looking at him like, how long are you gonna be here? He was like, I don't know. And I'm like, what you mean you don't know? So like we're like laughing and stuff, but then like he's talking about like I was talking to him about Baltimore because people who put your poppa was in DC be like, oh, you came all the way from Baltimore. I drove 30 minutes, and I live downtown, so everything 30 minutes for me, other than you know, Cadenceville.

SPEAKER_00

All right, yeah, you talking shit. 30 minutes is crazy. I was gonna let you know.

SPEAKER_03

Cainsville is 15 minutes from downtown, but it's a million minutes from everywhere else. But yeah, so it was it's people that people think that Baltimore is really far from DC. I don't know why. But yeah, everything is about taking a shot. You I don't know. I'm sitting here like if I missed any shots, but like for sure, I just don't know which ones. Grad school, grad school, I made it, and then I, you know, I ain't had that assistant to put the ball in at the butt. So it ain't make it all away last semester. But then we came back and it made it this time, so cool. But yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

You're reading my mind, because I definitely was gonna ask you how grad school influenced how grad grad school influenced you already being an entrepreneur and then going to business school, so on and so forth.

SPEAKER_03

Being in school for my MBA is to everything I do is to help GFV. My personal job is to fund GFV, my personal life is to make connections for GFV, and grad school is to know the back end of GFV, basically, right? Like the things that happen before it get to me and before, well, after I send the clothes this way, let me see how they doing it or whatever, right? So that was that. Grad school was hard as hell the first semester. I ain't even gonna lie to you. It whipped me, cooked me. I graduated from undergrad in 2023, December, took a year off, and I was like, you got six months to find a new job, and within a year, if you ain't doing what you need to be doing, you need to go go get another degree. So I ended up back in grad school because I wasn't doing nothing. Respectfully, I wasn't doing nothing. And I think I was just like, my therapist was like, you're in a constant state of moving. Like, you don't even stop and reflect. And I was like, because I was like, girl, I gotta get this money by tomorrow. Like, what are we talking about? Like, I have too many things and goals that I want to meet to be like, yeah, let me spend six months not doing nothing. That's crazy as hell. That's crazy as hell. So no, grad school doesn't influence anything, but the fact that when I'm done, I probably can leverage more money.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Everything goes back to me wanting money. Like, I realize the little life that I live is all like I love my little life because I've made it how it's structured to be, but money is gonna sustain that little life and make that life a bigger life and all that stuff. So that's why I'm in grad school, honestly. I watch people negotiate. I've been working at HR on and off for like five years. People negotiate salaries based on credentials and then based on like experience. And then also that last little level of like who you know around here, is how you get your job for sure. So yeah, I have two friends that work at HR and they make two different salaries because one has a grad degree and one doesn't. She makes 20K more than her. I ain't let nobody make 20k more than me. Not when I can go get a piece of paper, like, and then like you can find ways to pay for it, like you know, jobs, scholarships, all that stuff. So it's just like, why not? I ain't got no kids. I'm young and fine, but I ain't gotta be outside every day. So I can sit in the house and read a book, read my go to school, you know, whatever. I'm I don't feel like I'm missing out on enough by going to grad school.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It seemed to be a trend.

SPEAKER_03

What, going to grad school?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it seemed to be the wave.

unknown

Really?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because at least in my circles, I'm hearing more and more people talk about I'm thinking about going back to school or I'm about to go back to school, or I just reapply. It's real interesting.

SPEAKER_03

My my two of my friends already have grad degrees and they did it straight out of undergrad.

SPEAKER_00

So they've had not doing that shit.

SPEAKER_03

Well, if you can do it with a full ride straight out, why wouldn't you? Yeah. I think that that's that's them though. Like that's what they wanted to do. I think with me, because it took me, it took me 10 years in a stretch to graduate undergrad, but it took me four years, actually. So I went to school for two years and then two years, but it was in a 10-year span, right? So I think after that, I needed a break because I was like, that took me a long ass time. I was, you know, we went to DR, I had a good, I had a fun little dinner. Like I read, I written out the bottom of food market, and then we went to DR and I was like, yeah, cool. Then after that, I was like, yeah, I need to find a new job now. Like, and then that was the plan. Like, I think that I'm moving like goal, like I want to say, like moving my hands around, like, because I'm trying to figure out this word.

SPEAKER_00

Systematically.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean like in goal, like increments.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

So it's like I got six months to find a new job. By the seventh month, I was in my new job. Like, I was not playing around. I also hated my last job. They also hated me. It was very mutual. And I'm serious, I hated that damn job. That was actually the craziest job I've ever had in my life. And I could talk about it now because I'm gone.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, talking about it now.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I worked in the police department.

SPEAKER_00

That's crazy.

SPEAKER_03

I worked at VPD for three years, and people know, and some people don't know. And I don't really care if people know or not, because I who was gonna pay them bills. Right. They was paying them bills, so I didn't give a damn. But that was a place where I felt like I worked with the worst people I've ever met in my life. And it wasn't even on no, like, you know, you hear about police brutality and stuff like that. And it wasn't even that. I worked with the most bitter old women I've ever met in my life. And that and that would really bring you down.

SPEAKER_00

What was you doing then?

SPEAKER_03

I wasn't doing nothing. I was doing payroll.

SPEAKER_00

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_03

Nothing that nobody needed to be up in arms about ever. You know, like I I feel like my rap sheet there. I got written off all types of shit there. I didn't give a damn. For real. My rap sheet there was so long because people was talking to me so crazy. Because when I got there, there was only one other girl that was around my age. And they told her not to be my friend. So I basically got that job like a long little time.

SPEAKER_00

That's weird.

SPEAKER_03

It oh, it was very weird. They was like, she's just gonna drag you down with her. Mind you, I'm in school, minding my damn business. So I'm like, who am I dragging anywhere? Like, what are we even, what are we doing here? And it was just like, once you once you really look at it, sometimes, again, I'm the only girl, I'm the youngest of five boys. So I had one of those mothers like, everybody just jealous of you. Like, y'all are jealous of my doing, da da da da. You know, and she not, she's not wrong, but one day I did pull it to the side, like, hey, I'm not a good person all the time. People don't like me because I be doing stuff to people. And she's just like, yeah, but some of the stuff you talk about just be jealous, like, I'm gonna let you know. Like, and I'm like, okay, cool, you know, I'm gonna take what you say with the great talking to my mother, but some stuff really is just the girls are jealous, and then it's so mind-boggling to me because people are jealous of things that I don't even know that I do and things that are just in me, things that I don't even control. Like, I'm so sorry that I can walk into a room and have a conversation with anybody, but that's who I am, right? Like, so it's like you can be that person too. Like, one of my coworkers said that. She said, You can talk to anybody, and she went and took a public speaking class, and I said, Good for you.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. That's wonderful.

SPEAKER_03

Because now I work in an environment, people are not insane. So, like, yeah, she was just like, How do you do that? And I was just like, When I was younger on my report card, it said excessive talking. Since I was born. I don't know how I talk like this, it's just who I am. So I think, but again, like younger you really helps older you every day.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. It's the blueprint for sure.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I heard Ronnie Feig say that shit. Something similar. Like everything I'm doing now, I'm doing it.

SPEAKER_03

That's the guy that owns Nike?

SPEAKER_00

Huh?

SPEAKER_03

The other guy that owns Nike?

SPEAKER_00

Nah, he knew Kiff.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. Hate that brand. I mean, we know that's don't hate it. Don't hate it. I'm not gonna say I hate Kiff.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna say that they they definitely are guilty of the thing you were talking about earlier of what you see the women's brand doing.

SPEAKER_03

Of instead of setting a trend, I'm just trying to And I'm not even saying women's brands are the brands that are looking, you know, is like you know, I don't it's so weird. Cause me and my friends were talking about this the other day. Like, I don't think we all are consciously doing anything to push fashion forward in that way, but it's also just like we all aren't we all shouldn't be making the same things. So it's very weird because the same things sell, so you want to make the same things, but at the same time, it's like but this is the same thing that we're looking at across the street. So it's weird. It's a weird place to be. I was thinking about the guy that runs Nike, but oh that found the Nike, not him.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was about to say I thought that was his name, but no. Kiff is just very interesting to me because it's not a brand that I feel like should be held such a high regard.

SPEAKER_00

That was a nice way to say that.

SPEAKER_03

And thank you. I'm working on my words.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you really thought that one through. I saw you, I saw the gears turning.

SPEAKER_03

Because I was ranting on my story about KIF because I want to say Complex named it the best streetwear brand of the year. And I really, and I and I respect Complex. I really do. Um, I love their editor in chief. She's a black girl from Virginia. I gotta love her, like you know, off of that alone. But I've also met Arya. I've talked to Arya on socials a few times, talked to her in person. Nice lady. I wasn't really feeling that.

SPEAKER_00

I wasn't feeling that list.

SPEAKER_03

And I feel like I'm looking for it now on my phone. I feel like Complex puts out a really odd list every year.

SPEAKER_00

I think they do it for engagement.

SPEAKER_03

Every year, and that it could be rage bait. It really could be rage bait. Every year I feel like Joe is way too low. Every year.

SPEAKER_00

I like how you also refer to him just as Joe. You never say Joe Fresh Goods. Joe. I feel like I met Joe.

SPEAKER_03

To know me is to know that I love Joe Fresh Goods. So it's no point in me saying the whole name because you should know exactly who I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Well, for some people in my audience, this might be a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

Well, no, I mean, um I feel like me and you just talking. You know, so but yeah, I mean, I am gonna say he has on a Joe Fresh Good shirt, ladies and gentlemen. But yes, so Joe Fresh Goods. But I say Joe because sometimes saying all the words is a lot. Let me see if I can find this complex list.

SPEAKER_00

But nah, that complex list is trash. It's um The quote though, the Ronnie Fai quote was he just do shit for 15-year-old him. Like that was the quote we said. Like a lot of stuff that he does and creates is for the 15-year-old that he was, or the shit they want to say. It's the same quote Regard said as I do shit for the young me, and I be so proud of me so on and so forth. I think 15-year-old me would think I'm pretty cool.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, I want to say I make clothes for younger me. When people always ask me what was my insult behind GFE, I would always say it's young me and like present day me making clothes that young me couldn't wear. Yeah, my mom was not by all the shit I like. I don't know where this list is. Maybe it's on complex style. I'm on the regular page.

SPEAKER_00

For me, I've always been a fan of shit. And now looking back at it, I got a lot of regret because I gave away a lot of clothes when I was younger that was like just fly shit. Like coolie shit, like Ann Hardy shit that's back in style now. Like a lot of streetwear brands that you just can't find no more, like some old Carl Kanaj shit. Well, you can find, but now they be taxing or like Fubu, South Pole, Mecca, Echo, and Nietzsche, like all that shit. And I just be like, damn.

SPEAKER_03

I ooh, I recently have been looking for the Yees' shirt that I sold like four years ago when he started being MAGA. I want that shirt back so bad. I love, I love Yees' Tor Merch. Actually, Arya, who does complex, that I was just talking about. Your homegirl. It's not my homegirl. I need to start talking to everybody like talking to like people like I know them too. That's just a crazy thing that I do.

SPEAKER_00

But Arya and Joe grabbed coffee the other day.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Like her name is Arya, I think it's Hughes. That's how you say her name. She is the editor in chief of Complex. She does a very good show on YouTube called Let Me Explain.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I saw the one with Joe, with Joe Fresh Goods. Right, with Joe Fresh Goods.

SPEAKER_03

The one with Joe Fresh Goods is really good. But she also does small tidbits of her just talking about things for fashion knowledge. Because right now, the conversation is like, well, who started streetwear?

SPEAKER_00

I'm just saying that.

SPEAKER_03

And yeah, so she made a really good video and it mentioned the Yeezy concert merch being streetwear. And it was. And that was like one of our first times like seeing something that good be like from a um concert. And I went to that concert and I had a shirt from that concert. That's why I should not have sold it. Because I that was crazy. Yeah, and now I I only buy my Banties from if I actually go to a show. So like the last show I went to it was Leon Thomas. We didn't, I didn't like any of the merch. I did like one shirt he had, and it was like, don't be mad at me, I went to see Leon Thomas. That was cute. Let me ask you this real quick.

SPEAKER_00

If you so in the Leon Thomas situation, right? If you went to a tour, but you ain't like the merch, would you buy a bootleg shirt on the back end? Like have you seen some shit on Etsy from a tour you went to?

SPEAKER_03

No. That don't count? No, just because that stuff be ugly. So I haven't, and that's the thing. I'm very picky about what I buy. Like, I'm not buying it just because I went to the concert. Like, oh my goodness. If from from my lips to God's ears, somebody please let me like create some tour merch for them. Please. I'm doing it for my brother right now. But like, other than that, if y'all want good tour merch, especially if you have a woman fan base, somebody please call me. I'm not hard to contact. My name has been cashing on socials for years. Please somebody call me. Everything is so bad, everything is so ugly, and it takes away the momentum of like being there. All you got is your videos. I didn't, I liked one thing from Kaylani's tour, and I didn't get it because it was sold out. Chris Brown's core merch is always ugly. It's so ridiculous because he's so creative. So it's just like, why is this merch always ugly?

SPEAKER_00

You say you didn't want to get canceled.

SPEAKER_03

I I don't.

SPEAKER_00

And some people you can't say nothing bad about it. He, I mean, they're gonna be on your head.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want to say nothing about Chris Brown. I love him as an artist. Personal life is his personal life. I can't, I can't be involved. But yeah, I like Chris Brown as an artist, which why I feel like I can say this. But the and I go to I'm like you hear I'm going to the concert. I'm giving him my 500. At least let me leave with a shirt too. Like, jeez. Can't even leave with nothing. Like the I went to the I didn't go to Breezy Bowl. Um, because I did a GFE pop-up that week, and I was like, I can't be running back and forth with Baltimore DC like that. Like, I just can't do it. I ain't I don't have it in me, like bandwidth-wise.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, ain't that made 30 minutes?

SPEAKER_03

It ain't, you know, and doing a concert is not 30 minutes. Like going to a Nat's stadium for a for a concert is being there, being in DC all day. Yeah. Because you gotta drive to DC. Like me and my friends be going to get a room, we're gonna do this, like you know, like so. I just was like, I gave some my tickets and was like, sell these for me, please. Like, you know, or she asked for him and all that stuff, whatever. So basically, when I went to 1111, the merch was so bad, I bought some Chris Brown trading cards. But the thing is, that is good merch. Like, because merch isn't always just close.

SPEAKER_00

Like you want you want no secret?

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_00

I've been thinking about instead of doing a business card, doing a trading card.

SPEAKER_03

Do it. That's a great idea.

SPEAKER_00

But I don't then when I do new shirts, I want you to say this nigga only got cool trading cards and ass shirts.

SPEAKER_03

Don't have ass shirts. I don't plan on it, but hire a graphic designer. Like hire people to do the things you can't do. Or like, you know, like outsource. Ask someone, is this an ass shirt? You know? But yeah, I bought the trading cards because the rest of the rich was extremely ugly. I'm not wearing Team Breezy on my butt cheeks. What's the one doing? What are we doing here? You know? Leon Thomas, we did like the VIP sound check. So we got like a Leon Thomas like bandana, and I got a keychain that says folks, which is like his last like project, and it was good. And that also was my favorite concerts I've ever been to. Leon could put on a show. He did really good, brought Wale out, love Wale. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to Wale.

SPEAKER_03

Shout out to Wale, always. That was like my first concert, quote unquote, that I've ever been to. He came to RScape one year when I was like 12. I was young. When it was still in the pit by like MLK.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He rolled up in the crowd. I had a video of him rapping right in front of me. I'm just hollering, screaming.

SPEAKER_00

Also a very fly individual, too.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely best dressed rapper.

SPEAKER_00

Hmm. That's a conversation. What side got me putting that shit on?

SPEAKER_03

I don't, I'm not familiar with his game.

SPEAKER_00

Tyler Crady putting that shit on.

SPEAKER_03

Tyler's very well dressed.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like ASAP Rocky be ahead of this.

SPEAKER_03

I ain't getting canceled over ASAP Rocky today. That's what I'm not gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

That's the that's the line you draw.

SPEAKER_03

Like the Tumblr era, the peso era. It was such a that's such a that's that's such a moment. Yeah, that's such a moment to see that it didn't like stay. It kind of makes me sad. And because it's just like but you know, people just have moments, and that's okay.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, something makes me fly forever.

SPEAKER_03

So and some people just have moments, and that's okay.

SPEAKER_00

But I feel like Slick Rick's still icy somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

You said who?

SPEAKER_00

Slick Rick.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he always looks nice when he comes out, actually. That's very true. Somebody DM'd me when I posted Usher at Fashion Week a few years last year, this year. I'll never forget it because I was like, what the hell are you saying? So somebody DM'd me and was like, now all of a sudden Usher dressed like ASAP Rocky. And I said, Usher's always been really well dressed. I'm not gonna say that he doesn't know his own merit, like he doesn't have a stylus per se, because I don't think ASAP has a stylist. But Rihanna has a stylist. Nobody knows that Rihanna has a stylist, but anyways, because Rihanna is very well dressed, but she also has a stylus for like other things.

SPEAKER_00

Would you ever get a stylist?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Um, sometimes you don't want to use your brain every day. Yeah, and because like I think because I am so around the girl street weary, sometimes I need somebody to be like, oh girl, how you got how do I wear this gown? I can't wear this gown with a pair of like platforms. I can't wear this gown with a pair of ricks. This is crazy. So like let me let me outsource. Like I get to write on Pinterest for sure. For sure. For when I'm trying to like find things. Like even like I have a whole mood board for like business wear. Cause I can't my job is lean, so I do wearing cargo pants to work. But like with a cute little button down, like uh and my new balance mover. So like it's it's it's you know, it's it's T.

SPEAKER_00

You know, but then you don't develop that part of the game in the same kind of way.

SPEAKER_03

What you mean?

SPEAKER_00

I like so if I can always wear shit like this, when it's time for me to wear some slick shit, I'm not gonna have the muscle memory to be like, well, I know that I like this type of button up with this type of pad and pleated here, you know, all that type of fancy shit.

SPEAKER_03

I agree with that, yeah. You gotta you gotta have times where you gotta get dressed so you can know how to get dressed, it's very true.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm gonna become a a dress clothesman myself over the next six months to a year.

SPEAKER_03

Cute.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, part of my transition into a real real new businessman.

SPEAKER_03

Oh fucking scream.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm be wearing like I'm you know Pat Riley, you heard of him? The old coach of the Knicks and the Lakers.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe. I feel like in past and the past couple of weeks, maybe.

SPEAKER_00

He's actually quite the style icon.

SPEAKER_03

Pat Riley?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he used to be on the sideline. He had the uh the slick shirt tie combinations, the slick back hair dude. He also is the namesake of the Juicy J song of I Keep a Lot of Heat. Like Pat Riley with the fi, you feel me?

SPEAKER_03

There's no way you thought I heard that song before.

SPEAKER_00

You never heard you heard the fucking Patrick side.

SPEAKER_03

His name Patrick Riley?

SPEAKER_00

I guess that's what the Pat is short for.

SPEAKER_03

Come on.

SPEAKER_00

I heard I never heard anything called him Patrick Riley. I just said that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just asking you a question.

SPEAKER_00

I guess his name Patrick Riley.

SPEAKER_02

I'm looking him up on Instagram.

SPEAKER_00

He might not be The white guy? Yeah. He got that shit on. Looking up to white people? I mean, see, when you when you phrase it like that, you give it a connotation that's not true to the sentiment that I'm presenting.

SPEAKER_03

Good.

SPEAKER_00

And ain't that I'm looking up to white people. Good. Because that the motherfucker has flick sheets and whatnot.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but like, we can find you other people to look up to than Pat Riley. He's 81.

SPEAKER_00

It ain't just Pat Riley.

SPEAKER_03

Who else? Give me some more.

SPEAKER_00

Uh you put me on the spot. Myself.

SPEAKER_03

Give us someone else.

SPEAKER_00

Fucking uh. What's my man's name?

SPEAKER_03

Do you like Lewis Hamilton?

SPEAKER_00

Lewis Hamilton be having that shit on.

SPEAKER_03

I love him. My man, he's dating Kim Kardashian. What about me?

SPEAKER_00

He's Dayton Kim Kardashian? Wow, I'm not, I'm not plugged into the channel.

SPEAKER_03

I love him. They kept being spotted out together. And I'm like, are you fucking serious?

SPEAKER_00

You were offended. You took a shit.

SPEAKER_03

I was, I was, and only because of what I knew was gonna happen. Because when people date the Kardashian generous, it becomes like you're like a keychain to them. And he's he's fucking Lewis Hamilton.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like my collection, my future.

SPEAKER_03

I don't like what you said that.

SPEAKER_00

Anyways. You call niggas keychains, but when I make a second comparison.

SPEAKER_03

But but it's like it's not about my collection, because I think that's like taken away from what I'm trying to say. So no, I mean like a keychain, like they become their accessory, right? Type of thing. But it's like these people have lies. No, that's not what I'm trying to say. Be quiet, real quick. Like these people have lies. He is a world-renowned racer. Right. But when you get with Kim Kardashian, you're just Kim Kardashian's boyfriend. Right. He never needs to be put in that kind of category. He's bigger than that. He big he's bigger than the Kardashians to me.

SPEAKER_00

He is, but he's also not the he's the first in the long line of many men who are bigger than the Kardashians that succumb.

SPEAKER_03

And I hate Kazan.

SPEAKER_00

Because Kanye was.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Justin Bieber was slash is. Didn't he date Kylie Jenner? I made that up.

SPEAKER_03

You might have.

SPEAKER_00

I might have made that up.

SPEAKER_03

You might have. I don't know. I like this in BBT, but I don't think he did a Kylie Jenner.

SPEAKER_00

You know, ever since E ever since E fell off, I ain't really been thugged into the entertainment news in the same kind of way.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, E enter like E News?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh I used to watch The Soup.

SPEAKER_03

Cute.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I used to watch Fashion. What is the Fashion Believe?

SPEAKER_00

Fashion Believe with Joan Rivers?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

How you feel about Joan Rivers? Pro, anti-bird?

SPEAKER_03

Um she wasn't wrong, she was early.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's how you are. I feel like at times very, very off-putting, but like so was Wendy Williams.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_03

You know, so two people who I feel like don't be wrong, they just be early. Wendy had very wrong moments to me, though.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I wish that Tyra still had a show, honestly. I feel like she's one of my favorite talk show personalities. They also need to give Keep on my real show. I think she would do damage on a real like talk show for her own talk show.

SPEAKER_00

The talk show genre is an interesting one for me.

SPEAKER_03

I always wanted to have my own talk show.

SPEAKER_00

Me too. But the game is like, I guess this kind of is my talk show.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But the game is just so different now. Like I thought I saw Arsenio Hub was fly. You feel me? You fucked the mic up?

SPEAKER_03

Maybe. Not really too sure what was happening.

SPEAKER_00

Let's see. We got some, let me get into some miscellaneous topics so the people listening to it can still have a little bit of a topical episode. The next one, the finals. You got any thoughts on that?

SPEAKER_03

Go sports.

SPEAKER_00

Go sports, yeah. Yes, love. Yes, love. So I was in New York for it, actually.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I heard that you were in New York, so. But you aren't there for the parade. I mean But you did you go to the game or Stolen Valley?

SPEAKER_00

No, the game was in Texas.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, but you went to New York to watch the Texas game.

SPEAKER_00

I went to New York to visit family. Got it. And it happened to coincide with the team that's the biggest deal in the city winning the championship for the first time in 50 years. That's crazy. I might be a good luck charm. It might be me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, great, great time. Got to go out in Brooklyn for hours, walk around the streets, just be around the people. You feel me? Just great times, great times. I'm having the next one though, because it's just important. It's important for New York to have good cultural moments that aren't seated in disappointment.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Vibes are vibes are high.

SPEAKER_03

Vibes are high in New York. I will say that they're having a ball.

SPEAKER_00

Vibes are high. I'll vouch personally for New York, Philly and DC. Vibes are vibes are high. And those three places.

SPEAKER_03

Right now? Yeah. Why are vibes high in Philly?

SPEAKER_00

I was in Philly a couple weeks ago. Just vibes are vibes are nice.

SPEAKER_03

I like Philly. I will move there.

SPEAKER_00

I haven't had a bad time in Philly.

SPEAKER_03

Me either. I like Philly. It's a quick trip. I have a close friend that lives there. Like Philly is cool. I will move to Philly. It's on my list.

SPEAKER_00

List?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I have a list of places I would move to.

SPEAKER_00

What else is on there?

SPEAKER_03

London. Because I really loved London. I did. I had a great one. I've heard that.

SPEAKER_00

I've heard people really.

SPEAKER_03

It's like a slower pace New York. I was only there for like four weeks, but it was a slower pace.

SPEAKER_00

Only four weeks.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because I feel like when you do study abroad, you stay for a year or six months or for a summer. I stay for like the winter semester.

SPEAKER_00

No, I mean most niggas never go, period.

SPEAKER_03

Well, niggas need to get outside for sure.

SPEAKER_00

That counts as outside.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's like a flight across the country across the world.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, get in an airport. The airport outside.

SPEAKER_00

Get in that airport.

SPEAKER_03

Get in the airport. Like, hey, it's everyone under the spell of my voice. Like, no, I'm kidding. But yo, go to the airport.

SPEAKER_00

One of the most fashionable don't go to the club.

SPEAKER_03

Go to the airport.

SPEAKER_00

Or or the train station.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Or the train station. Plane training. Even if you even the port authority, get on that greyhound. Go go see stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Get on the greyhound.

SPEAKER_03

Like, I think that traveling sounds really expensive until you start traveling. Then it's just like, oh, that's like sometimes buying a plane ticket, whatever, and like when you smash it up, it's like a couple nights out. Real shit. I'm a girl, so not really for me, but for because like I'm gonna be real, like people are gonna be like, yo, you don't pay for stuff when you go out. Well, of course not, I'm a girl. But like if you really think about it, like it's a couple of me and my friends who want to dinner. Or me and my friends having a night out drinking. Like it is when it's just us and we and we aren't paying for shit, you know, whatever. But yeah, I feel like like everybody's like, how you just fly to Atlanta and back? The museum is free. I just had to get to Atlanta.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the suction in the bottle costs the trip.

SPEAKER_03

I'm telling you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Elon Musk is about to be a trillionaire. You got any thoughts on that?

SPEAKER_03

Is he the Tesla guy?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's the Tesla guy.

SPEAKER_03

No thoughts.

SPEAKER_00

Tesla among among the guys.

SPEAKER_03

No thoughts, just hate. Okay. Yeah, no thoughts, just hate.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, trade dollars is a nasty word.

SPEAKER_03

I just didn't know that existed.

SPEAKER_00

It didn't exist. I just it sounded like when you're a kid and you like you making up words, literally.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I thought it was. And I keep seeing people saying, I said, oh, that's a real thing. That's something. But yeah, no, no vibe, no vibes on him. Just hate.

SPEAKER_00

Elon Musk, we hate you.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, pretty much.

SPEAKER_00

At the big dream show.

SPEAKER_03

And I like Teslas. I think they're like I feel like they can do more. I feel like I look really cute in the packaging side of a Tesla. I'ma say that. I feel like the aesthetic of a Tesla is very cute. Like the the roof and the buttons and the consoles.

SPEAKER_00

What about the cyber trucks? Not as well. They are roaches on wheels. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

And I mean like water bug roaches just riding around Baltimore City. And it's actually roaches. I was riding behind one earlier today on the highway. And I said, and I I don't wish bad things on people, but I do think that's something that I like to see on the side of the road broken down.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Just maybe not with anybody injured in it, though. But like I don't think you need to be on the highway with us. They are not real. They are not real. Like water bugs, the wheels. I don't like them.

SPEAKER_00

It's very jarring to.

SPEAKER_03

And the people keep people rapping them in different colors, and it's just like now we got pink water bugs flying around the city. Like it's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

I don't hate the raps. I hate the raps less than the silver.

SPEAKER_03

I think the cyber truck is simply unnecessary.

SPEAKER_00

I hate the rap less than the OG silver fella.

SPEAKER_03

I know. I think the OG silver. If we're gonna do a classic, keep it classic. If we're gonna go outrageous, just keep you're gonna get the ugly ass outrageous car. Just get the outrageous car. You don't gotta rap it.

SPEAKER_00

It looks very fed though. Like just very like you you you It's giving dystopian.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it looks really dystopian.

SPEAKER_00

Perfect word.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, what else we got here? Jay Z. 30 years of reasonable doubt, only available at Target in light of the fact that black people in mass are boycotting target.

SPEAKER_03

I've been in talk.

SPEAKER_00

Cassie's been in target. I've been in Target. She's fucking with Cassandra. I ain't gonna lie, I'm very fucked target, but I ain't judging you for being.

SPEAKER_03

I I am where I live, there's only a target.

SPEAKER_00

Are you getting reasonable doubt CDs for everybody? Hell no. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um and you know what's crazy? Now, this is gonna be this is hate, this is like hate level like worth of like getting canceled. I don't listen to Jay-Z and Beyonce.

SPEAKER_00

At all. So you never have? It's never been a fan?

SPEAKER_03

I run B Day into the ground. That's Beyonce's best album to me personally. I love that album, right? But I didn't have a Destiny child phase, I didn't have a Jay-Z phase, I didn't have any of these phases that I feel like would have made me Jay-Z Beyonce fans.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it seemed like it. Because as big of a of a as big of a Pharrell fan you are, it seems like Jay-Z would have crept in there and do their concert collaborations.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, here and there, but like I know his I know his verses on Pharrell produced songs.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_03

I know which I know which Beyonce albums and music Pharrell's produced. But I think that, and this is a take that I've always had on Beyonce, Beyonce's most pivotal moments were manufactured by the dream and Sean Garrett.

SPEAKER_00

Explain more.

SPEAKER_03

They write and produce all of her, like, I feel like really good big songs. Formation, partition, like all of the songs that I feel like people really clung to at one point were written and produced by them. Granted, I'm gonna I'm gonna pull a Chris Brown uh quote out because you anybody can write the song, but who gonna sing it like me? He said that one day, and I'm like, he's not wrong. He's not wrong. And Beyonce is the same way, like nobody can perform like her, nobody's gonna sing it like her, but I'm not it's not my bag. I think I'm into the creative process a lot more than the performance. Yeah. Like I can like everybody keeps saying Chris Brown keeps making that same song over and over again because he's writing it. Let's be real, he's writing it. Right. I follow a few people that write for I follow a few of his producers and writers, but he writes a lot of that stuff himself. That's why, and he has a studio in his house. That's why that stuff all sounds the same. Bro, there's no checks and balances happening.

SPEAKER_00

I can't wait till I get the studio in my house. Oh my god. I I might record every day I get a studio in my house.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, when he did a part, because I'm really into music, low-key, like very like into music. My brother's a musician.

SPEAKER_00

So you want to give him a shout out so people can listen to him and find his work if they're listening to this?

SPEAKER_03

Sure. His name is Tyreek Al Sabir. He is the music producer for Blood Orange.

SPEAKER_00

Nice. Also, don't let Cash's dislike or indifference towards Jay-Z and Beyonce. Cloud, you're a fan of her brother's music.

SPEAKER_03

Agreed.

SPEAKER_00

Also, if you want to send some hate mail her way, the voicemail line link is directly in the episode description.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my goodness. Please don't send me hate mail. I just don't know. And people say all the time, like, oh, if you don't like Beyonce, you're doing it just because everybody else likes her. And I just don't care. Yeah. My friends love Beyoncé, and I love that for them. They looked really cute for the Cowboy Carter tour. And I love their outfits. I was like, everybody send me pics because I wanted to see the outfits. Even the cowboy carter merch was so good. She did like a magnet. She did like really nice shirts. She did a magnet. That's what I'm saying. People not thinking outside the box when it comes to merch. She did a magnet. She did really good shirts. And my friends all have different like versions of like a coffee table book. That's crazy. Like that's good. That's good shit. That's it. And then she had the sacred pop-ups in front of the in front of some of the arenas. That's great. Like I'm not a Beyonce hater. The music isn't for me, but everything else is her as a person. Amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you like businesswoman Beyoncé more than that. Yeah, for sure. For sure.

SPEAKER_03

Because even Sacred, I bought it. I got Sacred in my house and it works and it's great.

SPEAKER_00

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

Just not, I'm not thinking I'm not into the music.

SPEAKER_00

What's some of your favorite entrepreneurs?

SPEAKER_03

Wow. I don't really have that many.

SPEAKER_00

It's like me trying to think of people that wear cool suits and shit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. I can tell you some men that wear cool suits though. But that's because I love clothes. But Willie, I feel like I always hit this wrong. Chabaria, Willie Chevera. He did a collab with Zara recently that was really nice. But he is who kind of styled about Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, that's tough because he had that shit on.

SPEAKER_03

And Bad Bunny also had to be a good one.

SPEAKER_00

They had that shit on. Sorry, Bad Bunny. Don't want to offend you.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, and Bad Bunny also has a Zara collab as well. I don't know if it's out yet, but and everybody was mad because they were like, oh, we hate Zara. Fast fashion. People hate fast fashion. I don't give a damn, but people hate fast fashion. I also feel like I hate bad quality clothes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like the shit, a lot of shit from those stores like Zara, HM, if you maintain it and wash it and dry it properly, it's not necessarily fast fashion because it can last. Like I had a pair of HM sweatpants for like eight years.

SPEAKER_03

So fast fashion, a portion of it is about quality, but a portion of it is about the rate that they're producing clothing. And that's why it's called fast fashion because Shein produces over 5,000 products a day. So like that shit is definitely killing nose on layer for sure. If we die today, it's definitely because of Shein. Between Shein and we're cooked. Like, I'm not even gonna lie to you. But yeah. My favorite entrepreneurs. I really don't know. I wish I would have thought of that before I got here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, sometimes I just shoot from the hip.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. I don't I don't think I I definitely have some, but mine is Madam CJ Walker. Oh wow, I couldn't have said that.

SPEAKER_00

Boom. Boom. Boom. Y'all niggas ever need to just pull one out the out the back pocket.

SPEAKER_03

You say Madam CJ Walker?

SPEAKER_00

Madam CJ Walker's a she's a great one.

SPEAKER_03

I don't what's considered entrepreneurship? Like just working for yourself?

SPEAKER_00

I would say yeah. Somebody that built their own. I would I wouldn't define it as someone that built or managed their own industry. So like Issa Ray, I consider a great entrepreneur.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. I have Issa Rae's map. You mean you see her map of all her stuff? I have it, like I have it like printed out at my house. It's really good.

SPEAKER_00

I got hers and Walt Disney's like near each other.

SPEAKER_03

It's kids and them tunnels at Walt Disney. I don't like Walt Disney.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my God. You said that you don't want to get cast with then said they got kids in the tunnels at Disney.

SPEAKER_03

Just like it was kids in them way fair packages during the pandemic. It's kids in them tunnels.

SPEAKER_00

That's the real episode we need to get into. Conspiracy corner.

SPEAKER_03

I love I love conspiracy theories because some of them are insane, but some of them is like, hmm.

SPEAKER_00

You want to get into it? We got a little bit of time. You want to get into the city. I'm screaming. Conspiracy theories? We don't have enough. Because you just said it was kids in the tunnels at Walt Disney. And I would say I've never seen a mascot at Epcot.

SPEAKER_03

I've never been to Walt Disney, so I want to go first and then let's come back and do this.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I might also have made that up, but I've never seen a mascot at Epcot.

SPEAKER_03

That's where you drink at though, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean you can drink everywhere.

SPEAKER_03

Why is Mascot and where you're drinking at around the world?

SPEAKER_00

Because it's Disney World.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, they supposed to be in there? Drinking?

SPEAKER_00

No, everybody wants to see Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I'm drunk. Shit me.

SPEAKER_00

You know what? You drinking fucking Mr. Incredible walk up. You be lit. Or like you find Nemo? Like take a shot. I want to see Mike Wazowski. That's what I'm saying. It's just too many. It's just too many people in that catalog. Oh, that's true. That's true. Damn.

SPEAKER_03

I think that they stay, other than the main Disney characters, like you know, Mickey Minnie, Goofy, Pluto. I think that they stay. I love Pluto.

SPEAKER_00

But you had Go you had Donald right there. You and the Pluto. The other dude.

SPEAKER_03

I think that other than them, everybody else stays kind of where their little part of Disney World is. You know where I want to go kind of drunk though? I want to go play with the toad in Super Nintendo land. Because they you ever seen the videos of the toad? He be cutting up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Me and him should do that together.

SPEAKER_00

Super Nintendo Land is another one.

SPEAKER_03

That's where I really want to go. I really want to go there. I do actually. Well, I think I want to go to that one in Tokyo.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Conspiracy theory. Is space real?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. You know people will say space isn't real. I'm pro space, by the way.

SPEAKER_03

I've never heard that.

SPEAKER_00

Nah, people be saying, like, you know, they say the earth is flat.

SPEAKER_03

They say like we literally can look up and see stars. People think space is not real.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, people say the earth is flat. It's like what the hell are we looking at?

SPEAKER_03

Assimilation?

SPEAKER_00

I think they think it's a screen or some shit. I have a second niggas.

SPEAKER_03

Because that doesn't make any sense. Like, we literally fly in the sky. We fly above clouds when you're in a plane.

SPEAKER_00

I believe that the earth is there.

SPEAKER_03

The math is there.

SPEAKER_00

I wholeheartedly believe the earth is there.

SPEAKER_03

So but no, I like space. I think I've liked space my whole life. It's kind of probably where Girls and Venus came from. In the grand scheme of things.

SPEAKER_00

What's your favorite planet besides Earth?

SPEAKER_03

Saturn.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I thought you were gonna say Venus.

SPEAKER_03

It's not, and that's why I think that's so funny. Like Saturn has really pretty rings. And I've always liked Saturn's rings. It's just like the way it looks.

SPEAKER_00

Saturn is cool.

SPEAKER_03

Saturn is really pretty.

SPEAKER_00

I'm a Neptune guy myself. Yeah. I like the shade. Oh the shade, the hue of Neptune. It's like that bluey greeny kind of real, real mystical.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's true.

SPEAKER_00

And it got a cool name, like Neptune, the god of the sea, shit like that.

SPEAKER_03

Like King Neptune.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No Spongebob.

SPEAKER_03

No Spongebob. That's what I thought about when you said that. It's funny.

SPEAKER_00

You want to talk about the tr Donald Trump having niggas fight in front of the White House? Got any thoughts on that?

SPEAKER_02

Nothing but hate.

SPEAKER_00

I just want to pose a question. If I think somebody else said it, so I'm not taking credit for it. But if Barack Obama had a 303 basketball tournament outside the White House, that's why I know. What names and things y'all would call him? Just what would y'all what would y'all say if he had Steph Curry and LeBron and Kobe out front of the White House shooting threes and dunking and shit?

SPEAKER_03

You know, people brought up the fact that he redid the tennis court to be also a basketball court when he was in office, but Obama, and they tore him a new asshole.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They also, like, I guess I think Michelle wanted like made a garden while she was there, and they tore her a new asshole as well. So that is the examples that I mean that's the proof of what they would have done right there.

SPEAKER_00

I think they also paved over the garden since then.

SPEAKER_03

People are just so nasty, bro. It's like a garden? Who is a garden bothering?

SPEAKER_00

Ah, fuck gardens, fuck flowers. It's like cartoonishly evil shit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but it's also just like he's not maintaining it. He never has to look at it. It doesn't bother him.

SPEAKER_00

That's just a symbol of his.

SPEAKER_03

His ugly ass needs that fresh fruit and vegetables for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Now come on, that man is not ever eating a fruit or a vegetable. That's very true.

SPEAKER_03

But I just said he needed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

He definitely need it. But it looks insane. Like a lot of things that are happening are just not real. Like, that's not real.

SPEAKER_00

You think we live in a simulation?

SPEAKER_03

We live in something because I don't know what's happening anymore. And like, you know, when people make these things like, oh, stop using AI. Like, there are not, there are ways that we can not use AI, and there are ways I feel like AI has been built into our lives that we don't even know. Cause like Google. Like Google. Certain, like, and you can't turn it off.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So it's like when these things are happening and or when things surface on the internet, right? And people are like, oh, and you guys are just excuse me, you're so distracted because the Knicks just won. And we're all just like, well, that's what we see. So the things we don't see, what can we do about things we don't see?

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Like they're talking about like different stuff. My friend has a tweet that she saved of mine. Cause I was like, Y'all talking about this, that, and the third happening overseas, but but Marilyn's running out of crabs. I gotta focus on what I can focus on at one time. But I'm like, because I'm because and it's not me trying to be funny. She was like, Kashiara, what the hell? And I was like, no, I'm not trying to be funny. It's literally like I had to focus on what's in front of me because that's what I can control. I can help them catch crabs at Chesapeake Bay.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_03

I can't help them in Ukraine. I'm so sorry, but I can't. And I also like, it's uh a part of me, because I have a lot of feelings. A part of me feels really helpless in that way because you want to be able to be empathetic for other people's struggles and things like that. But it's just like, okay, and what can I even do other than get up and take my ass direct in the morning? Because I gotta pay my own bills.

SPEAKER_00

You could not go to Target.

SPEAKER_03

I don't go as often as you think I do. Don't be at me. How often did I say you I didn't I mean I every now and then, if I I want to say since the boycott started, I've probably been like three times.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

So nothing crazy, but That's reasonable. I don't live anywhere where there's anything else. So I go to CBS.

SPEAKER_00

Department desert, department store desert.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like there are Baltimore has so many different just deserts of things. Cause like even though Towson is a very like lucrative area, like they don't have it in Walmart no more.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So they have to go to Target. Damn, shout out to low key unless they drive the Timonium.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out to that Towson Walmart.

SPEAKER_03

They're building the BJ's right there now.

SPEAKER_00

Really? I feel it's like an odd choice.

SPEAKER_03

I feel like it's enough space for BJ's. But that's that's the only thing I think about it.

SPEAKER_00

And I guess it ain't really no wholesale stuff out there except for the BJs at White Marsh.

SPEAKER_03

It's a Sam's and Timonium. A Sam's Club, yeah. That's like 20 minutes from there, maybe.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I can't even show you. I can't even fathom a Sam's Club. Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's really in the cut, like by the train tracks and shit.

SPEAKER_03

It's a crushing from a target.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. In a cut. It sounds like you know the targets, huh?

SPEAKER_03

I'm just saying that I'm just what I'm saying to you is the pool of things that are near each other in different places compared to where I live.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm saying there are targets everywhere. They're not Walmart. And at one point we supposed to boycott Walmart too. I don't remember why at this point.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I think Walmart's just generally terrible.

SPEAKER_03

I think they were boycotting Walmart and Sam's as well.

SPEAKER_00

There's a new Walmart boycott now.

SPEAKER_03

Really about what?

SPEAKER_00

Because there was a woman that was accused of shotlifting. And then the long story short, the police like end up shooting her child, like her one-year-old kid.

SPEAKER_03

I saw the one year old kid getting shot. That was about that.

SPEAKER_00

Walmart was the ones that said that she had shoplifted. So now I think there's a there's a imagine shooting somebody over fucking shoplifting.

SPEAKER_03

That's insane.

SPEAKER_00

And in Walmart? You shot my son over Walmart?

SPEAKER_03

That's what the lady survived, but they killed the son.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Like they shot into the car. What a lawsuit. Yeah. She's gonna be set for life. Just what a what a terrible. You can't bring her car. Can't bring her child back, unfortunately, but she's that lawsuit's gonna be hefty. There was a lady, I don't want to go tit for tat with drama stories, but it was a lady who was accused of stealing out of Zara, and they they follow her all the way out the mall. The police pulled her over everything, and it was her fucking jacket. I said, Oh, that lawsuit hefty. She can she can rename Zara to her fucking name when she done, because that's how much bread she's gonna have from that. But people are crazy. Every day I just be like, yo, people are so unhappy every day. Like every day, people are so miserable, and I just don't. My only goal in life is not to be a miserable oh-ho. I'm gonna be an old ho at some point. You know, I'm gonna be well, I wanna call myself a hoe, but I'm gonna be an old woman at some point. You know, I'm gonna be old in the older category. The only reason people don't say I'm old because I'm 30 now is because I look so young and because I'm like I'm spunky, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I'm spunky.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, if I wasn't like if I wasn't like spunky and lively, people be like, oh you you old, you old, you old, like, you know, so but I'm not I'm not that. So yeah. But you know, because I did work at BPD, I'm really close to one of the sergeants that I worked under. Me and him are still very close. Um, because like I met his daughters, they love me, so I talk to them and stuff. Like, it's just adorable, honestly. But he said to me one day, like, the reason why guys will always like you, you will always have friends, and you will always like, you know, just be like having a full life is because you really have fun with your life. And he was just like, people look at girls who are have he's like, you have a serious job, you have your own business, you in grad school, but you have so much fun. And I'm just like, yeah, like one day, matter of fact, I was talking to D and he was like, You gotta try to have fun every day. And I was like, You should have never told me that.

SPEAKER_00

Because now you're gonna max it up.

SPEAKER_03

Because now I'm having fun every hour.

SPEAKER_00

Like, it's like, no, I'm kidding.

SPEAKER_03

But no, it's like you do have to choose to be lively, choose to have fun, choose to like live.

SPEAKER_00

That's a bar though. Yeah, that's a bar. I don't think that people understand enough that like happiness is a choice, and a lot of times it's a matter of free will and perspective.

SPEAKER_03

For sure. Like, I want to be way like I want to say bigger and better than I am now, but it's just like I look around my apartment, I'm in a little high rise. I love it. It's cute. You feel me? Like, you know, the way the sun set and rise in my apartment is very nice. I go into my fridge, it's usually always full. It's like I go to the market. Oh damn. You get me? Like, I mean, I'm very blessed for what I have. And I think about that all the time. Like, I want it, like, you gotta think about at one point you wanted what you have now. Yeah. Like, I've always wanted to live downtown. I've always wanted to live alone.

SPEAKER_00

I always wanted food in the refrigerator.

SPEAKER_03

Always wanted well, I mean, we've always had food.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I'm not saying I don't. I'm just making sure people be, you know.

SPEAKER_03

This the statute limitations on the child, you know.

SPEAKER_00

It's okay.

SPEAKER_03

It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

My parents loved me, we had a good upbringing, and I never had the statue. I was ready to say, don't have your don't have your mother come together. Sometimes mommy didn't want to cook. I understand, you know, she worked.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, no. My mom was a, and this is another thing. I feel like I was raised very, very like blessed. You know, I was in a two-parent household most of my life until my parents split up, but even still, then my mom kind of held it down. My dad was around for the most part, you know, he didn't live here, so it was like a touch and go kind of thing. But yeah. So I realized like people's parents don't cook. And I didn't know that until I got older. Because once I realized to the microwave at school, I was bringing dinner food for lunch.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you were one of them niggas.

SPEAKER_03

I was. I was like macaroni and cheese, collard greens, baked chicken for lunch. Like that was me. And people would be like, like, your mama cook every night. And I'm like, nah, my mama did not cook every night. Actually, after Wednesday, we fin for ourselves. And she would literally say until until she was like she was a Sunday dinner mom. So she would cook Sunday. We would have different proteins insides and stuff, and then we would eat that. And when it was gone, it was gone until next Sunday. But people's moms don't even cook Sunday dinner. I had friends who moms just didn't cook at all. And I was like, I did not know that people's mommas just didn't cook. I didn't know that was a thing. And so I I realized I have had quite the privilege of just things that I don't even see as privileges. Yeah. So like even like first day of school, I brought sushi for lunch every year when I was in high school.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, you was flexing on niggas.

SPEAKER_03

I but that's what I like to eat.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you didn't know you was flexing, but you were like, I didn't.

SPEAKER_03

I just thought I thought it was regular. I did. I thought like I thought, well, I didn't think it was regular because people didn't eat sushi. Right. But that was my regular, you know? Or even like my mom used to give us like back to school baskets. So we would have like baskets, like pens, pencils, books, gift cards, soft favorite places, whatever. Back to school dinner, so first day.

SPEAKER_00

It seemed like a very loving home.

SPEAKER_03

It was cool. First day of school, we would go out to eat somewhere after school was over, like, yeah, for dinner. So yeah, it was. I appreciate my mother from my bringing 100% for sure. Her and my her and my dad did a great job. My grandmother as well. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Just for the record, my mom did cook. All right. Mom, if you're hearing this, I love you. I love your cooking. I appreciate it.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, much love to the moms, man.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, man. Let's get out of here on this real quick. Shout out to the homies. I'm gonna give a shout out to Chupac Shakur. His birthday was early this week. I think he would have been 55 if he was alive today. Yeah. Which is crazy to think about. A 55-year-old Chupac.

SPEAKER_03

Well, how old are you?

SPEAKER_00

31.

SPEAKER_03

All right, say we're the same age ish, right? You're born in 95?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. So he died in 96.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Which is 30.

SPEAKER_03

We were kids. That's crazy. To think that they still have such a long-lasting impact. And it was but you do okay. I know we're supposed to get out of here, but do you think that people who pass away only have that impact because they're deceased? That's been an ongoing conversation about Aaliyah.

SPEAKER_00

So no, but what I will say is I look at it as like mythmaking. Like every great person has an has a degree of myth making involved with him. We're seeing a lot of Michael Jackson right now. That's why it's very fresh on my mind. Because like the image of who they say Michael Jackson is and was versus like who he actually was is gonna be very different. So I think when you die younger, it makes it early, it makes it easier to like propel the myth. But like the longer you live, the harder it is to be like, oh damn, for 80 years, 90 years, this motherfucker was a mythical human being. I think it also goes to like the difference between media now and then where like celebrities have celebrity status because we didn't see them, we didn't hear from them. They weren't I love that. I miss that so much.

SPEAKER_01

Bring that back.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. Now it's like you've seen a motherfucker on Instagram.

SPEAKER_03

I can be in Little Baby today and be in Miami tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

Literally.

SPEAKER_03

I hate that. Love it for me a little bit. I wouldn't I don't think I'm that kind of girl, but yeah, I I love that. I think it's that I don't think I'm the kind of girl, but I think that it's so weird to be able to touch celebrities like that. Because like Beyonce was out last like superstar, to be truthfully honest. Like, that's the other thing I like about her. She keeps that.

SPEAKER_00

I'd say Rihanna.

SPEAKER_03

Because you don't really you remember Rihanna's on Twitter cussing that right out?

SPEAKER_00

I do. She's reformed. Fair enough, fair enough.

SPEAKER_03

She's reformed, but I think as of now, because she's like Fenty Rihanna and she's a mom, like she's not going, she's not going back down that road, but she got it in her. She got the dog in her, and we know that.

SPEAKER_00

Then we got the dog. That we got the dog. But yeah, I think it's I think it's that in terms of the myth making. I think it's mythmaking, a lot of myth making, a lot of lore, a lot of Rick James came and there was a cloud of smoke around him wherever he went. And he had five white girls with him. Like, it's that type of shit. You feel me?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Okay, cool.

SPEAKER_00

Also, shout out to shout out to the big homie Shaka King, new movie announced coming out with Daniel Kahlua and Sienna Taylor. It's called The Parlay. So yeah, looking forward to seeing that.

SPEAKER_03

There's a movie that I want to see, and they did a press run for it, and I can't remember who was in it, but I really liked the trailer. It was the and I can't remember which, like it was a I want to say Keith Powers might be in the movie. Because I love Keith Powers. You know who Keith Powers is?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was uh wasn't he in fucking? He's a new edition movie. Superfly, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Superfly?

SPEAKER_00

He wasn't in Superfly?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think I've seen Superfly.

SPEAKER_00

I know you're talking about it.

SPEAKER_03

But he was what else was he in that I watched? He was in a Netflix series that I liked that did not get renewed.

SPEAKER_00

The Get Down?

SPEAKER_03

No, he wasn't in the Get Down. That was Jane Smith.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm just naming people. You is just naming it.

SPEAKER_03

You're naming something that had black people in it. Come on now.

SPEAKER_00

Straight out of Compton. Okay. When the fuck was he in Straight Out of Compton?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, The Gates. That's the name of the movie that's out now.

SPEAKER_00

The Gates.

SPEAKER_03

So it's basically about them. They were trying to go to a party, I think, and they went into a gated neighborhood as a shortcut, and they got locked in and the people trying to kill them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh God.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Three black boys.

SPEAKER_00

That's that's some traumatic shit.

SPEAKER_03

It is actually now that I'm sitting here saying it out with hell.

SPEAKER_00

I did watch not too long ago, and this will be the real last thing. Because they're gonna come in here at 4 30 to start knocking. Unless it's nobody after. If it's nobody after, then it don't matter. But I watched the Earth When and Fire documentary.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

On HBO Max. Banger.

SPEAKER_03

I have no interest in that gold thing, though.

SPEAKER_00

Really?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It was a really good. You don't like Earth Window Fire?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think I know enough about them. Maybe I should go learn something.

SPEAKER_00

You know, they got them songs. They got the songs.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, do you remember?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the 219th of September. September.

SPEAKER_03

Whatever. Told you I don't know it. I just said I didn't know the song, so he embarrassed me. But um You started singing it. Yeah, because that's the only part I knew.

SPEAKER_00

And you want to promote, you got an appearance coming up.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

In July. You wanna you wanna get your promo and your plugs and whatnot in?

SPEAKER_03

All right. So I'm cash, cash in on everything. That's cash and fashion. So it's K-A-S-H-I-O with two ends. I and GFV, we are going to be at EuphoriaCon, which is a streetwear convention in Washington, DC this summer on July the 11th and the 12th. There are tickets. You have to buy tickets, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_00

Are they selling tickets at the door? Do you know?

SPEAKER_03

Last year, I went one year. I mean the year I went, they were selling at the door, but I did I did like an early entry ticket because I wanted to be extra.

SPEAKER_00

Gotcha.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And it was in Virginia that year. So I was like, well.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you were super extra.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. So yeah, Euphoricon. Excited for that. Let's see what GFB can do.
